Disabled Army personnel to get more pension

New Delhi, July 3: A good news for disabled persons. The union government has said that it will soon come with up a new policy on disability pensions for the three wings of the Armed Forces.

This move would ensure that existing anomalies in the system would be removed. Sources say that the government is working on a percentage-based system so that the concerns of the Armed Forces personnel are addressed.

Experts say that new system would enable the Indian, Navy, Air Force Personnel who acquired the disability while performing duty would be granted pension according to the new system developed.

Officers say that currently many people have filed litigations over the slab system and so were are reworking. Currently the disability pension is determined on 30 percent of the last salary drawn after deducting the dearness allowance in case of 100 per cent disability
and this will be smaller in the case of lower disability.

According to new system personnel with disability in the range of 20-50 percent will be considered 50 percent disabled.

* Those with 50-75 per cent being taken at 75 per cent disabled.
* Between 75-100 percent as 100 per cent.

Let's hope government comes up with new system very soon so that the army persons get more pensions.
