Telangana Haritha Haram Third Session will commence soon

Hyderabad, July 02: In the third spell of "Telangana Haritha Haram" program scheduled to commence in the first week of July, a whopping 40 crore saplings of teak, toddy, silver date palm and other species, will be planted across the State.

The Telangana government is making necessary arrangements in this regard as Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was keen on completing the plantation in the State.

Chief Minister KCR to start this program on 10th of this month.

Nurseries are prepared with all kinds of plants. The third installment in Karimnagar is likely to start with CM KCR.

Forest officials examined various nurseries on Saturday and planting plants up to 14 km above Ramayampet.

District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) Project Director P Jagath Kumar Reddy here on Saturday said to target under Haritha Haram program is to plant 1.6 crore saplings in the Kothagudem District.

Speaking to media he said that on account of the Haritha Haram program, the departments have increased the number of saplings to 1.8 crores in 85 nurseries in the district and added that the flagship program of the government will start this month.

To ensure maximum success, the forest authorities have decided to opt for the seed ball system on an experimental basis.

The district officials were asked to upload the daily availability of saplings on the forest department website and also make contingency plans to ensure maximum supply of saplings and encourage public participation in large numbers.

Ahead of the Haritha Haram project, the officials were instructed to take up avenue plantation for at least 10 km in every district.

In the absence of machinery for digging pits for plantation, the officials have been instructed to engage workers in large numbers to complete the works before the rains commence.
