GST Mixed response in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, July 2: A new tax regime was rolled out in India from July 1. The effect of GST was partially visible in Hyderabad city yesterday. The impact of GST on the first day is as follows

Retail Shops /Malls: many of big malls and medium shops were shut or they have only sold only items which are tax-free such as milk and eggs.the trade in small shops remained as usual because they are exempt from GST. Malls have said that they are stopping sales till they update their software.

Electronic market: Many people didn't prefer to buy these items and customers are still waiting to get a clarity.

Gold: The sales were not affected even though prices have increased by 1 %.

Hotels/Restaurants: Some of the hotels have shifted to GST and have issued bills which contain a CGST of 9 % and SGST of 9 %.

Finally, experts say that there is a mixed response among trade and industry over GST and they still need clarity. The state government on Saturday has closed all 16 commercial tax check posts and the goods were transported seamlessly.Let's hope that clarity emerges in few days and trade will pick up.
