AP Minister launched a two-day national seminar STEMI

Vijayawada, July 1: The Andhra Pradesh Minister for Health Kamineni Srinivas has inaugurated a two-day national seminar on ST-Elevated Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) here on Friday.

He stated that the state government is planning to work with private hospitals to implement the STEMI India model to reduce the burden of acute heart attacks in peripheral areas that do not have catheterisation laboratories to perform an angiogram.

Minister Srinivas addressed after inaugurating a two-day national seminar on (STEMI), i.e. acute heart attack, and starting the Andhra Pradesh Chapter of STEMI India here on Friday, said the State was already using Private Public Partnership to provide crucial services, particularly to those below the poverty line.

STEMI India founder Thomas Alexander said the STEMI India Spoke and Hub model was already in place in Tamil Nadu.

Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) program director Meenakshi Sharma said implementation of STEMI was a flagship project of the Council. She said the average time for the symptom to door in STEMI cases was 300 minutes.

Ramesh group of hospitals MD P. Ramesh Babu said the 108 service in State and the Fibre Grid that was coming up soon would vastly improve healthcare delivery.

AP Cardiology Society president Bhaskar Naidu, the second founder of STEMI India Ajit Mullasari, and DME Subba Rao spoke.
