GST protests shut down textile shops

New Delhi June 29: India will witness a history from July 1. India will migrate into a new tax regime. The GST Council has decided the taxes on various items. Within less than 48 hours left for the rollout of GST, the following sections of traders are protesting in demand to lower the taxes or exempt from the taxes.

Textiles: All India Textile Association has called for 72 hours shut down of the shops.Their main concern is to reduce GST on textiles above RS 1000 so that many small traders don't close their business.

Retail: The traders in Gujarat are on strike because they feel that GST will hit small shops and retailers.

Road Construction: Contractors are protesting because they cannot pass on extra tax burden to customers.

Furniture: Many retailers in Delhi are protesting because of a high tax rate of 28 %.

Finally, the protestors are demanding the government that they should consider their representations.
