AP Textile Federation urged AP CM to exempt from GST

Vijayawada, June 29: As we know that, The Andhra Pradesh Textile Federation called a national bandh, which is still continuing in the state against GST.

The Representatives of the AP Textile Federation (APTF) met Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday and urged him to prevail upon the Centre to exempt textiles from the Goods and Services Tax (GST) purview.

While submitting a memorandum, APTF State president B. Malleswara Reddy told Mr.Naidu that tax had never been imposed on textiles since Independence.

Levying GST would be an additional burden of 40% to 50% on people. Also, 80% of textile traders were less qualified and educated, he said. It would be a challenging task for them to file returns as they had no computer knowledge.

Federation leaders B.J.P. Srinivas, Amara Subba Rao, Velampalli Ramachandra Rao, and Bachu Venkata Prasad were present.
