New Delhi, BhuthanJune 26: A notification was issued recently. The Home Ministry has said Indians cannot travel to Nepal and Bhutan by showing Aadhaar card as a valid identification document.

Currently, the country people don't need visas for traveling to above neighboring countries. Indians can just show the national passport or election ID card issued by the election commission.

Persons over 65 and below 15 years can avail a facility of easy travel by showing photo identity documents to confirm age. The photo IDs include
*PAN card
*Driving license
*Central Government Health Service (CGHS) card
*Ration card

The Aadhar is not listed and it cannot be used for travel purposes.
Many critics have said that finally, the government has left Aadhar for just one program. Currently, the government has linked Aadhar to most of the schemes for DBt and non-social schemes like linking PAN, Aadhar, LPG etc.

Finally, this rule has become cumbersome for passengers who travel to these countries and don't any other ID except Aadhar.
