Police raids on gutka,seized worth Rs 15 lakh

Hyderabad, June 26: The Hyderabad police officials have been arrested 12 persons in two incidents for allegedly manufacturing gutka and seized tobacco products worth Rs 15 lakh in Hyderabad on Sunday

speaking about the first incident, Adibatla police conducted special raids on KK Industries located on Outer Ring Road (ORR), Bongulur Tollgate. Police said 25-year-old Babban was running the illegal unit.

"Babban who completed engineering in mechanics department from Hassikeri village in Karnataka took up this illegal business to lead a lavish lifestyle," police said, adding that gutka worth Rs 5 lakh was seized.

In the second incident, Malkajgiri Special Operations Team (SOT) raided a gutka unit in Mamidipally in Pahadishareef. Eleven persons were apprehended. "Syed Rasheed was the prime suspect and was running the illegal business from Begum Bazaar," police said, adding that efforts were on to nab Saleem who is at large.

Police seized one ton of beetle nuts, 200 kg gutka, an auto, car and scooter, and nine mobile phones from them.
