West Bengal government receives UN Award

Kolkatta, June 25: An award was announced recently. The United Nations has awarded the West Bengal government. The government has received a 1st place for the Public Service of the people under its "Kanyashree" scheme.

The award ceremony was conducted at the World Forum of the organization located in the Hague. The award committee said that a total 552 projects from 62 countries were nominated for the most prestigious award.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has received a Trophy and a certificate. Cheif Minister has said that it is "proud that our government has received this award". She also said that “Kanyashree Prakalpa” is a scheme will benefiting the schools and educational institutions.

Under this scheme targeted conditional cash transfer will be done to schools and colleges which retain girls. The scheme also provides skill development and prevent child marriage of girls in the state.Finally, let's hope the government introduces many more public welfare schemes so that all-round development in the state takes place.
