Efforts continue to save 18-month-old girl stuck in borewell

Telangana, Vikarabad, June 24: The tragedy of the 18-month-old girl who has accidentally dropped two days ago in a 40-foot-deep borewell near Telangana in Vikarabad district, is still going on.

An official of the police said on Saturday that even 36 hours after the incident, the child could not be found. The girl's father is a laborer.

At Akkarddiguda village on Thursday evening at around 7 pm when the girl was playing with her sister, she slipped and fell into the borewell. Chevella police station's sub-inspector N Sridhar Reddy told that the rescue operation was affected last night due to rain.

Reddy told that a team of ONGC experts reached the spot. Excavation work is still going on. We are not able to send the camera ahead of a certain point in Borewell, but every effort is being made to save the child.



NDRF cameras capable of taking photographs up to a depth of 90 feet to locate the baby have been placed at the spot. The official said that continuous oxygen supply is being done in Borwell and an ambulance has been kept ready with the team of doctors.

Earlier, Telangana Transport Minister P Mahendra Reddy asked the officials of various departments to make every effort to save the girl. The rescue work is under the supervision of Transport Minister.
