Monsoon Parliament sessions to start

New Delhi, June 24 : The monsoon session of Indian Parliament will start from July 17. The election of the president will take place on the same day.

The Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs (CCPA) headed by Rajnath Singh has recommended beginning the session from July 17 to August 11. The CCPA meeting was held on June 23 after NDA presidential nominee Ram Nath Kovind filed his nomination papers.

Sources say that the both houses may be adjourned on the first day of the session as a tribute to mark the death of two sitting MPs Lok Sabha member Vinod Khanna and Rajya Sabha member Pallavi Reddy. Let's hope that the session runs smoothly and many public important matters are discussed.

The month-long monsoon session of Parliament will feature the election of a successor to President Pranab Mukherjee.

Demands for farm loan waivers across states and the contentious ban on cattle slaughter at animal markets could be among the issues for the opposition parties to raise in the House.

It will also be the first Parliament session after the scheduled roll-out of the goods and services tax (GST) on 1 July. The impact of GST is likely to be discussed in both the Houses.
