AP CM urged Centre to release the Polavaram Funds

New Delhi, June 24: The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has urged the central govt to release Rs.3,500 crore funds spent by the State Government on the Polavaram project.

AP CM Naidu met the Union Water Resources Minister Uma Bharti at New Delhi here on Friday and

Mr. Naidu told the Minister that the detailed project report (DPR) of Polavaram would be handed over to the Union Minister in 10 days.

Mr. Naidu requested the Union Minister to extend full cooperation for the completion of the project as per schedule by releasing funds on time.

The Chief Minister also met Union Minister of Environment, Science and Technology Harshavardhan and appealed to him to de-notify 12,444.89 hectares of forest land in Krishna and Guntur districts and transfer it to the CRDA.

He also sought de-notification of 10,000 acres of forest land near Chintalapudi in West Godavari district for industrial development.

He sought the cooperation of the Union Minister for the sale of red sanders the State officials had recovered from smugglers.

The Chief Minister also urged him to give clearance for the laying of gas pipeline in Rayalaseema, East and West Godavari districts for development of gas-based industries.
