Hyderabad June 23: The police officials have been arrested a school principal on charges of outraging the modesty of a 13-year-old girl student on the school premises, here on Thursday.

According to the police, the principal was identified as Vishwanath Anurag (43).

In the complaint, the victim alleged that Anurag misbehaved with her when she was alone in the classroom. The incident, which happened last Tuesday, came to light when the girl informed about it to her parents on Wednesday.

Police said that "During the school interval, when her classmates were outside, the girl was alone in the classroom doing some classwork. Anurag, who was on rounds, then went to her and made unwanted gestures and comments,"

Based on the complaint given by her parents, the police have registered a case under Section 354 (Outraging her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Meanwhile, the members of Balala Hakkula Sangham (BHS) alleged that children, especially girls, in the school lack safety. "Considering the safety of the children, the State government should immediately shut down the school," demanded Achytha Rao of BHS.
