Justice Karnan in Kolkata jail

Coimbatore India, June 21: An arrest was made yesterday. Police have arrested a controversial Retired Calcutta High Court judge C.S. Karnan.The judge was arrested in Coimbatore by West Bengal police on Tuesday night.

The Justice (Retd.) was absconding since his arrest warrant issued on May 9 following the Supreme Court's verdict to imprison him for 6 months for contempt of court. Additional Director General of Bengal's Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Rajesh Kumar has told that he will be taken to Presidency Jail in South Kolkata after medical examination.



They have said that it was a difficult task arresting him so they have taken the help of Tamilnadu state police to arrest him. The judge has retired on June 12. Earlier he became a controversial judge because he had issued judgement to imprison CJI and supreme court judges for having given a wrong judgement against him.Finally, the police have said that Justice CS Karnan will be brought to Kolkata today afternoon.
