Harish Rao: 34 new godowns to Telangana

Hyderabad June 20: Telangana Marketing Minister Harish Rao said all the cautionary measures were taken to ensure the storage of crops in Telangana.

NABARD had sanctioned Rs .74 crore on Monday to build another 34 new godowns. Prior to the formation of Telangana districts, there were 176 Godowns with 4.17 lakh tons of storage capacity.

Harish Rao said that The Government has accorded permission to the agriculture marketing department to take up construction of 34 godowns with the storage capacity of 1.225 metric tons. It has provided a financial outlay of Rs. 73.50 crore with loan assistance from NABARD.

After the formation of Telangana state, there are already 355 godowns with 17 lakh tons of storage capacity.

The Chief Minister of KCR has been directed to bring the funds from NABARD to build new crops.

In addition to the newly constructed 34 godowns, an additional 22,500 tons will be available, he said. With this, the storage capacity of the state will increase to 23 lakh tons.
