Tummala Nageswar Rao visited state home

Hyderabad June 17: Minister for Women and Child Development Thummala Nageshwar Rao has visited Conjoined twins Vani-Veena here on Friday.

He said that, State government was pulling out all stops to ensure that the boarding and lodging facilities of the conjoined twins were met properly.

Coming to matter, Conjoined twins Vani-Veena continue to thrive in the State Home to which they were shifted in January from Niloufer Hospital by authorities.

The twins not only became talented singers but now with just home tutoring, they can speak fluent English for hours together.

To help them develop their intellectual abilities and also take care of their personal needs, the State government had allotted a separate yearly budget of Rs 6.4 lakh.

The twins were given a special room with custom-made furniture, including a bed that will suit their physical needs.

The three personal caretakers of the conjoined twins are being paid Rs 4.32 lakh while another Rs 1.14 lakh is being spent towards counselors and the rest to meet their daily needs.

The arrangements have been made in such a way that Vani and Veena will receive care around the clock at the State Home, officials said.
