Tamil Nadu CM wrote a letter to AP CM

Chennai, June 17: The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Palaniswami has written a letter to the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister here on Friday.

The Tamil Nadu govt has lodged its protest against the action of the Andhra Pradesh government for "unilaterally" commencing the construction work of a check dam across the Kusa River at Nelavayl village in Karvet Nagar Mandal in Chittoor district on Friday.

The Kusa is a sub-tributary of the inter-state river Kosasthalaiyar and supports an ayacut of about 354.32 acres fed by the Veligaram tank in Tamil Nadu.

"This unilateral action of the authorities in Andhra Pradesh has caused great alarm and apprehension amongst the farmers in Tamil Nadu," Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami said in a letter to his AP counterpart, N Chandrababu Naidu.

Palaniswami said the AP government should have consulted and obtained the prior consent of the lower riparian state before commencing any new work across the Kusa."I request you to immediately intervene in the matter and issue instructions to the officials concerned to stop the construction activities of the check dam".
