Modi Inaugurated Metro Rail in kochi

Kochi, Kerala, June 17: The Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Kerala to inaugurate the Kochi Metro rail, here on Saturday. He flags off and inaugurated the commercial operation of the metro rail service.

Modi arrived at Kochi INS Garuda Naval Air Station, where he was welcomed by Pinarayi Vijayan, the Kerala Chief Minister. After inaugurating he took the first metro ride along

with Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu, CM Vijayan, and 'Metro Man' E Sreedharan.

He is also expected to take a ride from Palarivattom to Pathadippalam following which Modi will drove towards the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium for the inauguration,

where invited audience of about 3,500 guests. Later, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to hold meeting a with CM Vijayan and other cabinet ministers.

PM Modi and CM Vijayan will be accompanied by several ministers during the inauguration, including Kerala Governor P Sathasivam, Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu along with others. Kochi metro project mentor E Sreedharan, who is known as ‘Metro Man,’ and he was the principal advisor to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation.

The normal operations of Metro Rail for the public will begin at 6 a.m. on Monday.

Kochi Metro work began in 2012 after the former Oommen Chandy government hand over the project to Sreedharan.
