Hyd Police:Criminal cannot escape with new System

Hyderabad June 17: Criminals Escaping from police is no longer easy. The convenience of immediately detecting criminals through the highly advanced fingerprint system will soon be available in Telangana. For the first time in the country, Telangana police have established a fingerprint identification system called Palmprint Identification System from Russia.

Coming to matter, The Cyberabad Police have moved onto a new fingerprint system, discarding the fingerprints analysis and criminal tracking system (FACTS) which it was used since its inception in 2003.

Cyberabad Commissioner Sandeep Shandilya on Friday held a meeting to review the crossover from FACTS to the much advanced Papillon Automated Fingerprint and Palmprint Identification System (AFIS).

The AFIS system has already been procured and utilization of the same is on, with necessary components like palm print live scanners, high definition web cameras, and mobile security check devices being supplied to police stations, Shandilya said.

AFIS, with its new live scan system, will replace the traditional method of taking fingerprints using ink, slab, and roller. This, officials said, would save manpower and transportation costs occurred while taking fingerprint slips from police stations to the fingerprint unit.

Live scanners will be installed in the Commissionerate at Gachibowli, the Petbasheerabad police station, Kukatpally police station, RGIA police station and the Shadnagar police station.
