Liquor sales boost up in Telananga

Hyderabad, October 20 : Liquor sales in Telangana State are going on a record level which is evident by the 55 per cent increase of excise revenue within six months. While all the departments revenue put together is Rs. 22,500 crores, the excise department brings in a whopping Rs. 2,500 crores.Excise revenue tops the list of revenue sources in the State. Its income has increased at a record level in the past six months. Compared to last year liquor sales, this year it was increased by 55 per cent. The excise officials are expecting more income by the end of the present financial year.

Meanwhile, the revenue of other departments was also on rise. 21 per cent more revenue came during the first half of 2016-17 and Rs. 22,500 crores was earned through different taxes. Of this amount, Rs. 16,400 crores came from commercial taxes. This is 14 per cent more compared to the previous year.

The income of stamps and registrations department has increased by 39 per cent with earnings Rs 2,050 crores. Transport department earned Rs. 1,300 crores with an increase of 20 per cent from the previous year. The increased income is facilitating the government to implement its welfare schemes smoothly.

The Opposition parties raised doubts on the State?s financial position due to delay in payment of fee reimbursement, aarogya sri etc. They even demanded the government release of white paper on this. But the TRS government seemed to ignore them and going on about their business as usual.
