AP Transco Officials caught 10 foot Python

Guntur, June 13: The AP Transco staff caught a python, which has 10 foots length near the sub-station at Nulakapeta village in the Guntur district on Sunday night.

The Forest police and the sub-station staff safely released the python into the forest on the nearby hillock.

According to residents, the python was seen near the sub-station on Sunday night, and the staff detained it in a plastic drum. On Monday morning, they alerted the police and the forest authorities who rushed to the spot.

With the help of a snake catcher, the officials released the python into forests. "We found the python while our staff were moving in the sub-station, and with great difficulty we put it in a drum and closed the barrel by placing boulders," said sub-engineer Balaji.

Guntur Forest Range Officer G. Venkateswara Rao and Mangalagiri Deputy Range Officer V. Venkateswara Rao, who participated in the operation, confirmed that it was a python and it can swallow up to 15 kg feed such as goats, calves and even small children.

"Many families return from work late in the night. If the python was not caught, it would have entered our colonies. We thank the Transco staff for catching the python," one of the locals said.
