Warangal police rescues Kadapa woman

Warangal June 13: Responding to a video clip about the plight of a woman in Whatsapp, City Police Commissioner G. Sudheer Babu took pains to rescue the woman from the clutches of her master from Riyadh.

Warangal police rescued a 40-year-old woman from Lakshmipuram village in Kadapa district in Andhra Pradesh from the clutches of a Sheik in Riyad.

In December last year, she approached some local agents to find her a job in Saudi Arabia and paid 80,000 to them. She was duped and was sold to one Abdullah Sheik in Riyadh for 2 lakh by the agents Jilani, Venkatesh, and Vali.

It all started when a video sent through WhatsApp was received by Warangal urban collector Amrapali Kata in which the woman Subhalakshmi pleaded to rescue her from the clutches of a Shiek in Riyad, who had confined her to a bathroom and was harassing her. The collector forwarded the video to Sudheer Babu, who immediately responded and formed a team to rescue the woman.

"My health was deteriorating as I was not given proper food to eat and was surviving on water available in the bathroom. Luckily, a person from Ghana helped me record a video asking people to help me. He sent the video through WhatsApp to my younger brother and he forwarded it in all groups and social media. My video was noticed by Warangal police commissioner, who rescued me from the Sheik," she said.
