car rushes into canal:10 people dead

Mathura (UP), June 11: An accident took place on Sunday. Police said that 10 persons, including five women, died when a car fell into a canal at Makera in UP today morning. The vehicle was carrying pilgrims from Mehandipur Balaji Temple while the incident took place.

SP (rural) Aditya Shukla said that the car lost control and fell into the Makera canal.He also said we have identified the victims and they belong to Bareilly and all the bodies have been recovered and information has been passed on to their relatives.

Sources say that the driver may be sleeping or must have driven the car rashly on a narrow bridge near the canal. However, the local residents have blamed the authorities for not expanding the narrow bridge along the canal.

Let's hope that people drive safe especially near bridges and canals.
