FSSAI Salt to be labelled Specially

NewDElhi June 9: A good news for Indian Food Industry.
FSSAI said here on Thursday said that it will soon bring out new draft regulations regarding food labeling, advertisements, and packaging.

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) CEO Pawan Agarwal said that "we will approve and publish new regulations on our website once we receive comments and suggestions from all stakeholders such as scientists, Industry's experts etc".

He also said that "there would be three separate regulations for labeling, claims, and advertisements and on packaging (materials used)". He also said salt used in food must be labeled separately "per serve basis".

He also inspected Tea gardens in West Bengal and Assam.He said Industry must take steps to bring fortifications in Tea and coffee which would be helpful for people. Currently FSSAI is responsible for implementation of Quality and Safety of Food products manufactured and Imported into the country.
