HMWSSB water board to spend Rs.100 crores

Hyderabad, June 08: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) has announced that it is ready to spend even Rs 100 crores to provide regular drinking water supply to un-served areas in the core city, said HMWSSB Managing Director, M Dana Kishore here on Wednesday.

At a review meeting here, he said the Hudson project would cater to the surrounding municipalities. Dana Kishore said even after 28 years of the board formation there were many un-served areas and residents were dependents on tanker supplies.

The board would lay new water supply lines in these areas and stop tankers supply, he said and added that initially, alternate day supply would be started and in a short span, the decision of the government to provide daily water supply would be initiated.

The tankers would be reduced sharply in next six months and used only for commercial trips, he added. Regarding the introduction of jetting machines, he said the regular complaints of pollution, sewerage overflow, clogging should be reduced drastically, operation and maintenance expenditure on sewerage complaints redressal should also come down.
