Fake certificate fraud

Bengaluru, June 7: The Karnataka Government Officials have unearthed a fake certificate fraud for the first time during the recruitment process of lecturers here on Tuesday.

At least 80 candidates, who were selected for the post of assistant professor in government first-grade degree colleges, were found to have furnished either false credentials or had inadequate qualifications for the job.

Several went so far as to submit fake Ph.D. or National Eligibility Test certificates. This deception was unearthed by the Department of Collegiate Education (DCE) after a three-month verification process of the total 2,034 candidates who were part of the provisional merit list provided by the Karnataka Examinations Authority and were to be recruited as assistant professors.

This is the first time that such a fraud has been unearthed in the recruitment process, and the department will be taking strict action against the recruits, said, officials.
