Techie cheated in matrimonial fraud

Hyderabad, June 7: The Rachakonda cyber crime police have arrested a man here on Tuesday, for allegedly cheated a woman techie of Rs 14 lakh in a matrimonial fraud.

While coming to details, The accused identified as Rashid Khan has been receiving a commission from the gang for the matrimonial fraud.

The woman, a techie in Hyderabad, got her profile registered on a matrimonial website and on February 7 she received a message from one Dr. Sumanth Bharath expressing his willingness to marry her.

In April, the person said he is intending to visit India and asked the victim to pay to a consultant to process the visa. Two days later, the woman got a call from the so-called agent stating that he was stuck in New Delhi airport.

"She paid Rs 14 lakh to the fraudsters in installments. As the agent continued demanding more money, she realized she was cheated cheating and lodged a complaint," Rachakonda police commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat said.
