Kadapa Police busted a Cricket Betting Racket

Kadapa, June 6: Here a cricket betting racket contained 11 members arrested by the Kadapa police and seized Rs.38.5 lakhs at Modemeedipalle in Pathakadapa here on Monday.
The Police have seized Rs. 38.15 lakh cash, a communicator having 26 mobile phone connections, three laptops, a television set and 21 mobile phones from the accused, Additional SP (Operations) B. Satya Yesubabu said on Monday.
The accused included Ambavaram Madhava Reddy of Modemeedipalle in Pathakadapa, Jillella Venkata Konda Reddy and Gangula Nagendra Reddy, both of Jillella village, and Jillella Subbi Reddy of Pedda Jonnaram village in Duvvur Mandal, Makam Subbarayudu and Yerragolla Krishnaiah of Tadigotla and Sudha Sivarami Reddy of Yerramachupalli in Chintakommadinne Mandal of Kadapa district.
Four bookies of Hyderabad — Chava Tirupathaiah and Kopella Raju of Kukatpalle, Manthena Raghurama Raju of Jeedimetla and Vemanamandi Ramesh Varma of Madinaguda — were also arrested, Mr. Yesubabu said.
The gang has been allegedly organizing cricket betting at Kadapa, Hyderabad, Goa and other places for different cricket tournaments, the official said.
