Supreme Court rejects the petition of Kaleswaram Project

Hyderabad, June 6: The Justice bench Supreme Court has rejected the petition here on Monday, which was filed to stop the construction works of Telangana's Kaleswaram irrigation project

The apex court said the issue of compensation could be contested, but added it cannot entertain the demand for a blanket stay on the works. The case will be heard again by the Supreme Court in the second week of July.

The petitioner had earlier moved the high court seeking stay on the work related to Sundilla reservoir which is part of the Kaleswaram project.



The Petitioner moved the apex court after the HC declined to grant a stay. In its ruling, the SC felt no urgency to give any orders on the construction as the issue raised by the petitioner was related to compensation.

Another petition moved by the farmers of Kaleswaram is also pending before the SC, which is scheduled to be heard in the first week of June.
