Kerala creates record by planting 1 crore trees

Kerala, June 5: A massive tree plantation took place today. Kerala has planted one crore saplings on the occasion of World Environment Day. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has greeted the people today by planting a tree.

He said that all sections of the society must actively support the government’s efforts of tree plantation. He also said that its the responsibility of the citizens to make sure that the planted trees grow well.

Famous Malayalam actor Mohanlal also participated and planted trees at a college Governor P Sathasivam celebrated the day at Raj Bhavan by planting a tree in his compound.The government has celebrated June 5 under the name of ‘Green Kerala Mission’.

Sources say that this year fruit bearing and Environmental Friendly plants were distributed this year. The government had also launched a campaign titled ‘Connecting People to Nature’ to bring awareness in the people.

BJP also celebrated the event in the state upon inspiration from PM Modi. The party has distributed more than 10 lakh saplings across the state for planting under the name of Jalswaraj.

Let's hope that people of Kerala will preserve the trees planted today so that the care for the environment doesn't go away once June 5 passes away.
