Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana: A benefit for Senior Citizens

Nagpur, June 5: A good news for senior citizens.Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has distributed 2383 Aids and Assisted Living Devices to 1266 Senior Citizens on Sunday. The CM has distributed the devices at the camp of “Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana” under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment at Nagpur in Maharastra yesterday.

Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, Union Social Justice, and Empowerment Minister Thaawar Chand Gehlot, MOS for Social Justice Ramdas Athawale have also attended the camp. Officials say that these devices will help the Senior Citizens to overcome their physical impairment and paves way for having a dignified and productive life.

Sources say that newly launched Scheme will benefit 5,20,000 Senior Citizens in next 3 years.The Scheme for providing support for Senior Citizens belonging to BPL Category was announced in the Budget 2015- 16. A new scheme “Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana” has been developed.



Under this scheme, old age people belonging to BPL category and suffering from any of the disability such as infirmity/Low Vision, Hearing impairment, Loss of teeth, Locomotor disability will be assisted with living devices.The supplementary devices given shall be of high quality and will confine to standards laid down by the Bureau of Indian Standards.

Aids and Assisted-Living Devices distributed under this scheme are as follows

* Walking sticks
* Elbow crutches
* Walkers / Crutches, Tripods / Quadpods
* Hearing Aids,
* Wheelchair
* Artificial Dentures
* Spectacles

Finally, the Senior Citizens are happy and they praised PM Modi for taking care of them just like he takes care of his old mother.
