Padma Awards :Centre invites nominations

New Delhi June 2: The central government has initiated the process of honoring outstanding personalities from different walks of life with Padma awards for 2018.
Union home ministry has started inviting nominations.

The last date for receipt of nominations for the top civilian honors for 2018 is 15 September 2017.

Currently, the awards are given in different fields and disciplines such as art, literature and education, sports, medicine, social work, science and engineering, public affairs, civil service, trade, and industry.

The notification issued by home ministry clearly mentions that nominations will be received online only on the Padma portal designed by the ministry which is available on the address www.padmaawards.gov.in.

Officials say that with the launch of the online portal, the general public will also participate in the nomination process.

The government invites Nominations every year from all state governments, union territories, ministries, departments of the central government and individuals. but the public was ignored.

The nominations are placed before the Padma awards committee which is constituted by the prime minister every year.

Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri awards for the year 2018 will be announced next year on the eve of Republic Day next year.

The Awards will be handed over by the president.
