Swathi dad asks DGP to stop movie about his daughter

CHENNAI, June 2nd: It's not even a year since the brutal murder of Infosys employee S.Swathi, who was murdered in June 2016 by her alleged stalker, and there are plans to release a film based on the sensational case which took in Tamil Nadu. But Swathi's father requested DGP to stop the movie, here on Wednesday.

Coming to details, Swathi was Brutally murdered on June 24 last year in Nungambakkam railway station while she was waiting to board the train to work by P.Ram Kumar who had allegedly stalked her for three months and killed her after she reportedly ignored him. Later the accused committed suicide by biting a live electric wire in the high-security Puzhal Central prison.

Director Ramesh Selvan is directing this story and Trailer for the feature film titled as ‘Swathi Kola Vazhakku’ which was released on Monday. The Odd trailer which consists of Two and Half minutes begins with a card which reads, ‘Tamil Nadu’s most controversial case now on screen’.

Santana Gopalakrishnan, Father of Swathi is a retired employee of the central government, petitioned the DGP (Director General of Police) on Wednesday appealing that the production and release of the film be stopped.

Swathi Father gave a complaint which reads, 'The death of my daughter at her prime age completely shut the doors to us to lead a peaceful life as an ordinary citizen and we couldn't digest the incident till date which forced us to lead a life in a rotten boat.'

Nobody had approached me to take the family's consent about the movie. 'We are unable to see the movie, as the facts can be twisted about my daughter particularly, he added.

However, Mano and Arya from the theater group Koothu-p-Bhattarai are performing the roles of Swathi and Ramkumar respectively.
