Fire accident in Chennai Silks showroom

Chennai, June 1: Here a massive fire accident has occurred in a leading branded textile company Chennai Silks showroom at T.Nagar of Chennai on Wednesday early morning.

According to the police, the fire at the Chennai Silks showroom was noticed around 5 a.m. and fire tenders were rushed to the spot.

At least 11 employees who were staying at the shop and no one were injured and 12 people were rescued from the seven-storied building were rescued and no casualties were reported. Thick smoke was emanating from several floors of the building.

As per, the reports, the key concern of fire personnel was that the entire building doesn't cave in. At around 3 am on Thursday, five floors (from seventh to second) collapsed after hours of a blazing inferno.

None of the buildings in the area conforms to the standards prescribed by the government. The police have diverted the traffic around the area. The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
