Geneva, May 30: The role of anesthesia therapist is important for the patient to undergo surgery during surgery. If the dose of the drug is quite a bit, but the patient's life is at risk.

There is a huge shortage of such anesthesia doctors in India, which has only one anesthesia doctor for every one lakh population.

The World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists (WFSA), a global alliance of anesthesiologists, has launched an online resource tool mapping the total number of anesthesia providers worldwide.

However, the number of anesthesia doctors is high in richer countries, compared to the poorest countries, with the difference being much larger in the world.

An estimated 1,950 people are anesthesiologists in Indonesia, with a population of 25.83 crore people. There are more than a one lakh anesthesia doctors in America with a population of 32.39 crores.

In Sub-Saharan African countries, Western Pacific, Caribbean, South, Central America and Southeast Asia have reported a significant shortage of anesthesia doctors, the WFSA said. The deaths in the surgery are high in these countries.
