New Delhi, May 30: A change in FDI proposal likely to take place soon. The Union Food processing Minister said that the government will soon permit FDI in non-food items under the multi-brand food retail policy.

Harsimrat Kaur Badal the minister has said that the policy to allow 100 % Foreign Direct Investment in the food sector are showing results. She also said that the allowance of foreign investment non-food items will be helpful for industry to sell the most consumable items such as kitchenware and grocery.

She also said that the companies as a responsibility must invest some amount in the development of Infrastructure linkage and integrate the back-end supply chain. She also said that the Move I forwarded was accepted by Prime Minister Modi in 2016.

She said that the reform was utmost important because it has the potential to transform lives of farmers and youth by creating income and employment. Finally, she ended her speech by saying that FDI in food sector has increased by 40 % last year.
