AP CM presents Avenger bikes to Traffic Police

Vishakapatnam, May 29: The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has presented 50 Bajaj Avenger two-wheeler motorcycles to the Traffic Police of Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation here on Monday.

He also gave 100 e-cycles–worth Rs 24.7 lakh to the GVMC employees.The cost of each e-cycle is Rs 23,000 and Naidu was seen making inquiries with GVMC Commissioner Harinarayanan regarding the functioning of the cycle.

The latter replied to Naidu that this was the first time that e-cycles are being used in the district. They were jointly manufactured by the AP government and Gayam Motor Works, Hyderabad and would be distributed to sanitary inspectors, Naidu said.

The Chief Minister also gave away 50 Bajaj Avenger two-wheeler motorcycles worth Rs 60 lakh, sponsored by Divi Laboratories, to traffic police.

Divis Lab Director Madhusudhan Rao said the motorcycles were manufactured with additional facilities such as GPRS, Glowlight, PA system, first aid box, and police indicators.

The director also handed over a cheque for Rs 7.25 crore from the company's corporate social responsibility fund to the Chief Minister. The CSR fund was to provide water taps to households, construction of borewells for 18 habitations of Annavaram, Chippada, Moolakuddu and Pedanagaiah Palem panchayats in Bheemunipatnam Mandal.
