Minor Boy drowned unfortunately

Hyderabad, May 27: Here is a tragic incident has occurred in the city, while a teenage boy drowned in the Chinna Cherlapally Cheruvu, who was trying to learn swimming here on Saturday morning.

While coming to details, The deceased boy, identified as Raj Kiran(13), a Class 8 student and resident of Mallikarjun Nagar in Nagaram, had gone with four of his friends to swim in the Bathukamma Tank built in the lake when the accident occurred.

According to the Kushaiguda police, all the five youngsters were from the same locality and had planned to learn swimming in the tank. They were doing so for the last five days and on Saturday too, they went to the tank around 8:30 am.

"They all got into the water, which was about 10 feet deep, to swim together. While the others were in a shallow part of the tank, Raj Kiran went deeper and suddenly began drowning. His friends immediately raised an alarm but by the time others reached the spot, the boy had drowned," said Ravi Kumar, SI, Kushaiguda.

With the help of police and GHMC staff, the body was retrieved and shifted to the hospital for an autopsy. A case under section 174 of the CrPC was booked and is being investigated.
