US cuts aid to India

Washington MAY 25: Another shocking news from America. The US President Trump has proposed to reduce its developmental assistance to India from $ 85 million in 2016 to $ 33.3 million in 2018.

The major part of the developmental assistance to India is the US Agency for International Development-led global health program.

The assistance will be reduced to $ 19.6 million from $ 33 million in 2016. The changes are proposed for next fiscal starting from October 1, 2017.

In the upcoming budget proposal, the US financial assistance to the country for international military education and training has been marginally increased to $1.3 million compared to $1.2 million last year.

The financial support given towards counter-terrorism cooperation will remain the same of about $ 2 million. Finally, The moves come as a shock to India because the US government didn't cut any grant to Pakistan.

Let's hope that our government reacts in time and make sure that our aid will not be reduced.
