China-Pakistan Economic corridor may create tensions

Bejing, MAY 25: A report published by UN has created tremors in china. The United Nations report has said that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) might create geopolitical tensions.

The tensions will be created between India and Pakistan because the dispute over Kashmir is still unresolved.
The report named "The Belt and Road Initiative and the Role of Escap" was released by the UN’s Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (Escap) yesterday.

The agency has also said that Afghanistan’s political instability would not be able to transmit the potential benefits of transit corridors to population centers near Kabul or Kandahar.

The report was prepared at China’s request and it contains detailed information about the six economic corridors which are built under the umbrella of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

The report also stated that CPEC would serve as the "driver for trade and economic integration" between Asian countries.

The report comes assumes significance because earlier India had refused invitation to attend China’s ambitious One Belt One Road Summit held this month.

India has opposed the inclusion of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) under the OBOR initiative as a part of the project passes through Pak occupied Kashmir.

Finally, let's hope that our neighboring countries may stay united for achieving peace.
