Amaravati Secretariat to complete within 2 months

Amaravati, May 23: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister asked the London-based Norman Foster Partners to complete the Amaravati Secretariat within 2 months, he said here on Monday.

while going to matter, London-based Norman Foster Partners submitted designs for Capital city Amaravati at the Secretariat on Monday.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, officials and representatives of Norman Foster Partners have come to a consensus on the designs.

The firm will submit final designs in next two weeks.Mr. Naidu made a few suggestions to the Foster Partners representatives after a detailed discussion.

He wanted them to design a huge tower from where the entire city could be viewed. Two major parks would be developed on both sides of the city.

A convention centre, cultural building, exhibition centre and trade centre for the common public and administrative buildings would come up on either side of the city.Earmarking place for statues of N.T. Rama Rao, founder president of TDP and former Chief Minister, and Dr. B. R. Ambedkar was important.

While NTR statue should come up on the north side of the administrative capital, Dr. Ambedkar statue should be constructed on the south side.

Secretariat and Heads of Departments (HoDs) buildings should come up side by side, while residential quarters would have to come up opposite these complexes. And there should not be any private properties in the administrative city, he said.

Discussing residential quarters for elected representatives and judges, he said the Chief Minister’s residence should be close to the Raj Bhavan.
