Shabana Azmi opened up about Triple Talaq

Mumbai, May 22: Senior heroine Shabana Azmi termed Triple Talaq as inhumane and something which ruins the basic right of every Muslim Woman. Stating that Centre has got the responsibility to protect the rights of Muslim Women, She recommended the abolition of Triple Talaq without any further delay.

Shabana Azmi sees Triple Talaq as the practice which deprives Muslim Women of the right to equality and empowerment. She didn't hesitate to say, 'Even Quran didn't permit Triple Talaq'.

At a recent event, Shabana opined Society's progress depends on empowerment of the Women. She wants women who get empowered to empower other women by creating support groups.



NDA Government moved Supreme Court seeking abolition of Triple Talaq citing how Muslim Women were exploited. While Muslim Organisations have defended the practice which existed since 1,400 years, Centre sought the Apex Court to pass a ruling in favor of Muslim Women so that it could bring a law banning Triple Talaq. Supreme Court has reserved its verdict after the conclusion of arguments.
