Guruvayur Temple receives threat call

Thrissur, May 21: A person was arrested for making a bomb threat call to the Sreekrishna temple at Guruvayur on Saturday.

While coming to details that, the arrested has been identified as joseph, a native of Thottappadi near Aluva.

He called the temple office around 8 am and said that his group will blow up the temple with the help of a woman suicide bomber in a manner similar to the Rajiv Gandhi assassination.

However, temple MD called the police and managed the situation.

The police had traced the call to a sim taken in the name of an Alappuzha native, then they have taken him into custody.

Guruvayur ACP P.A. Sivadasan said that Balan was a rag picker and had visited the temple two years ago. He was allegedly not given the daily feast at the temple and was verbally abused by the security guards.

A case has been registered against Balan for making the threat call and he will be produced before the Chavakkad magistrate on Sunday, the Guruvayur temple police said.
