Indian scientist secures Dan David prize

Israel MAY 19: Another great recognition for Indian scientist.

Scientist Shrinivas Kulkarni was awarded the prestigious Dan David prize. He was awarded for his contribution in the field of astronomy.

Currently, he is working as a professor of astrophysics and planetary science at California Institute of Technology in Pasadena.

The Professor is an expert in time-domain astrophysics across the electromagnetic spectrum.

He has developed a Palomar Transient Factory which is used in the survey of the night sky.

The prestigious award of $1 million will be awarded by Dan David Foundation which is headquartered at Tel Aviv University.

Some of Indians who bagged this award are author Amitav Ghosh, music conductor Zubin Mehta, popular chemist CNR Rao.

The honor will be granted at a festive awards ceremony on May 21 in the presence of the other laureates.These awards will be given for people who have made extraordinary contributions in the field of Humanities, Sciences and Civil work.

The management of awards committee has put a condition that the laureates must donate 10 percent of their prize money towards scholarships.

Finally, the professor said that I am happy because my work got recognition.
