Telangana Urdu Academy to organize cultural Programs

Hyderabad, May 17: The Telangana State Urdu Academy has planned to organize various cultural and literary programs in connection with the centenary celebrations of the Osmania University from May 22 to 25.along with Telangana Minorities Welfare Department(TMWD).

A K Khan, Advisor to Government of Telangana for Minority Affairs, said that the Urdu Academy will be conducting a series of programs with the focus being on Urdu language and its association with Osmania University.

Seminars, debates, conferences and other cultural events are planned throughout the year. The main focus will be Osmania University, said A K Khan.

To begin with, a two-day seminar is being organized on May 22 and 23 at Haritha Plaza, Greenlands wherein various intellectuals will be presenting their papers on different topics related to Osmania University.

A Ghazal program is also planned wherein eminent singer Pankaj Udhas will be performing apart from other Ghazal singers. It will be held on May 25 at Lalith Kala Thoranam at Nampally.

Mr. Khan said that the expenses are being met through the budget released by the Urdu Academy. "In case more funds are required the Minority Welfare Department will chip in an Urdu Academy functions under the MWD," he said.

A committee comprising Urdu scholars, Osmania University alumni MWD officials and Osmania University faculty and officials will be planning and be executing all the programs throughout the year.
