Union Cabinet approves new coal linkage policy

New Delhi MAY 18: A big push to renewable Energy generation has taken place yesterday.

The central Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Modi on Wednesday has approved a mechanism for coal allocation and awarded new nuclear power plants.

Speaking to Media after the meeting Union power Minister Piyush Goyal said that the cabinet has approved a new policy for coal block linkages and supply.

He elaborated that the coal would be supplied to power plants from Coal India Limited via auction process.

He also said cabinet also approved the new target of the addition of 7,000 megawatts (MW) of nuclear capacity in the country.



He said that yesterday's decisions are a mark of Good Governance of NDA Government .

Experts say that the decisions taken will be a big boost for renewable energy sector especially the nuclear industries.

Finally, the Industry has congratulated the government for taking employment generation measures.
