Congress MLA Komatireddy Venkat Reddy injured in clashes

Nalgonda, May 17: The Congress leader MLA Komatireddy Venkat Reddy was injured when supporters of the Congress and the TRS have clashed here on Tuesday.

The incident has taken place when the Congress MLA reached the Nalgonda market yard to lay the foundation for an orange market. Stones were pelted by members of both the parties and in the resulting several people were injured besides damage to several vehicles.The MLA was arrested and shifted to Miryalaguda Police Station.



Speaking to media personnel at the venue, MLA Komatireddy said that the district unit of TRS is filled with rowdy-sheeters. "They incited the violence at the market and encouraged stone-pelting to prevent me from speaking at the foundation laying ceremony. Instead of rescuing me from the stone-pelters the police arrested me and shifted to the police station," he said.

"I have stopped attending official programs. However, minister Harish Rao's secretary personally called me and urged me to attend the function. However, TRS activists resorted to violence and stone-pelting and prevented me from speaking," Komatireddy said.
