Pirates of the Caribbean movie hacked

May 16: The Hollywood latest installment 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales', franchise starring Johnny Depp in lead role, which is set for a worldwide release on 25 May, has got hacked by online pirates.

Bob Iger, the CEO of Disney, the production house that rolled out around Rs 2000 crore to make the movie, has revealed in a press meet that the hackers threatened to leak the movie online unless the studio pays the sizable ransom. He added that Disney didn't heed to their demands and has instead approached the FBI for help. The hackers warned that they would leak five minutes of the movie first and 20-minute chunks at regular intervals.

Hollywood has become a soft target for cyber pirates in the recent times. Last month, an anonymous hacker group accessed a yet-to-be-telecast major TV show and uploaded the contents online, which caused substantial loss to the production house.
