Railway tickets to have service tax

Delhi, May 13: Indian railway may announce a shock in future. The Sources say that IRCTC may levy service tax on tickets booked online after June 30.

We know that IRCTC has waived of tax on the tickets booked online as a part to promote digital payments after demonetization. Earlier ST was waived off till March 31 but it was extended to end of June.

IRCTC has also offered free insurance to travellers who opt online booking. The agency has written to finance department mentioning that don't extend the waiver of tax because it causes huge losses.

Although the Finance ministry has not taken a decision. Let's see what the ministry decide.
