New Delhi, May 12: In a shocking incident has occurred in a Govt girls high school, a 'snake bug' was found in the mid-day meal served to the students NIT-2, locally known as Town-2 in Faridabad on Thursday.

Two teachers and six students, who complained of nausea after consuming the food, were treated at a hospital and discharged. A committee headed by Additional Deputy Commissioner has been tasked with carrying out a probe into the matter.

A student spotted the "snakelet" in the meal around noon and alerted the teachers. The two teachers entrusted with ensuring the quality of the food before it is served to students and the six students had already taken the food, and Madhu, a Class II student, vomited and rushed to a nearby private hospital.

The two teachers and five students, aged between 11 and 13 years, also complained of nausea and were taken to Badshah Khan Government Hospital.

After the incident, all the schools across the district were directed not to serve meals. At a press conference, Deputy Commissioner Sameer Pal Srow said the ISKCON Food Relief Foundation prepared and supplied food to around 16,000 students in as many as 371 schools across the city every day. Samples of the food were sent to Chandigarh for examination.

Speaking to media, Mr. Srow said the teachers and the students were under observation. "We will take action against anyone found responsible for dereliction of duty leading to the incident and also take steps to prevent the repetition of such incidents."
